The honest answers.
How much time does it take?
About ten minutes a day: two or three to read, a minute or two to log, and a few if you talk it through with Ray. The drill itself happens in your life, not in the app: at dinner, in the truck, at the door before you walk in.
What if I miss a day? Or a week?
It waits. A new day opens each morning, and every day you haven't done stays open. There's no streak to break. If you go quiet for a few days you'll get a short note, and if you'd rather not, you can turn those off.
Is there a call, a group or a coach?
No. It's you, your phone, and your house. If you'd like to do it with other men, a church or group can buy seats and meet on project days, but nothing requires it.
Who is Ray? Is he a real person?
No. Ray is an AI guide built from Daniel Walker's books and method, speaking as the grandfather from Nobody's Watching. He'll say so plainly if you ask. He's not Daniel, not a person, and not a counselor. He's there to help you look honestly at your day and keep you pointed at your house.
Do I need to have read the books?
No. Each day brings in what you need from them. If you want the whole story, the books are here, and many men find the program lands harder once they've met Ray and Chet properly.
My kids are grown. Or little. Or I don't have them yet.
It still works. The practice is about the weather you bring into a room, the story you were handed, and the apology you owe. For grown kids, project days become a call, a coffee or a job you do together. For little ones, they're anything that takes two sets of hands.
Is it religious?
Faith is part of how the books were written, and one optional day (51) is about it. It's welcome if it matters to you, and never required. If faith isn't your language, that day reads as one about stillness and a worth you don't have to earn.
Who can see what I write?
Nobody but you. Not Daniel, not a group leader who gave you a seat, not your family. Your writing is stored so the program works, you can download all of it at any time, and you can delete your account and everything in it from the account page. The privacy page has the details.
What happens if I write something about being in danger?
If something you write suggests you, your kid or anyone else may be in danger, the program stops the lesson and shows you who to call: 988 (call or text), text HOME to 741741, or 911. Some messages are caught before they ever reach the AI. A person on our side is told, reads that message, and may reach out to you by email. The Better Father is not crisis care and isn't watched around the clock, so in an emergency, call 911.
Is this therapy?
No. It's a structured, self-guided practice built from two books. It doesn't diagnose, treat or replace care. If you're carrying something heavier than a practice can hold, a counselor is a strong move, not a weak one, and Ray will tell you the same.
What does it cost, and what's the guarantee?
$147, once. Not a subscription. If it isn't worth it to you within 30 days, reply to any email and we'll refund you, no questions and no hoops.
How long do I have access?
The days open over eight weeks. After that everything stays open: go back to any day, keep logging, keep talking things through.
Can I give it to someone?
Yes. Choose "As a gift" on the start page. He gets an email from us with a code and your note, and starts when he's ready. You won't see anything he writes.
We're a church (or team, or company). How do group seats work?
You buy seats, get one code, and each man redeems it with his own email. Everything about groups is here.
What do I need?
A phone or computer and an email address. There's no app to install: it runs in your browser, and the daily email links straight to the day.
